This - and nothing else - must be weight loss "Job #1."
But there's a major roadblock in the way: your own ego!
You see, your ego is not very interested in this business of exchanging
self-sabotaging beliefs for self-supportive ones. On the surface, that
doesn’t make any sense. So how could it be true?
You see, your ego is highly invested in your existing belief structure
because it has been involved from day one in the accept-reject process. As
such, your ego is attached to your current beliefs—no matter how well or how
poorly they may be serving you. The ego is all about maintaining the status
quo—the unconscious status quo.
Your ego may or may not be the least bit interested in the truth, because
the truth may conflict with the ego’s existing beliefs, and than that would
mean rocking the boat. So you need to know going in that there WILL be
resistance to ANY new beliefs, no matter how beneficial they ultimately may
be. Why? Because the ego has no concept of “later,” and therefore can’t
grasp the concept of deferred gratification.
IMPORTANT POINT:
Your ego is not necessarily concerned with your health, your
happiness, you love life, your spiritual life, or any of the things your
conscious mind may appreciate and desire. In fact, as long as you still have
a pulse, your ego is silently saying, “See? Everything is fine. I did a
great job. Leave me alone."
The key concept to understand here is that your ego is not necessarily
concerned with your health, happiness, etc. How can you tell whether it is
or isn’t? It’s easy. Just look at your life. Are you happy, healthy,
in-shape, loving, etc? Your ego will always run the show, just like a
behind-the-scenes political boss. So if you want to know what your ego is
really attached to, just look and see how your show is going.
Question: Do you know anyone who just seems to stay at their healthy weight,
month after month, year after year, without seeming to work at it? Well I
have a little insight for you.. They're not working very hard at it. Why?
Because their egos are attached to being fit, at-weight, and in-shape.
The people who are happy, healthy, in shape, etc., are the ones whose egos
are attached to being that way! So guess what? Since the ego runs the show,
it automatically creates health and happiness for those folks who have those
kinds of ego attachments.
Question: If your ego was attached to health, happiness, etc, do you think
your life might look and feel a bit different?
Major Concept:
We really need to understand that the way our lives look and feel are
merely physical reflections of out true beliefs and attitudes about
ourselves, our lives, about God, and about the universe in general.
You ego is the guardian of your beliefs—past, present, and future. Fighting
with your ego is a losing battle. If you are genuinely interested in making
ANY positive changes in your life, your job—your challenge—is to get your
ego aligned with your healthy, conscious goals by persistent persuasion and
reasoned logic. Your ego must fall in love with your dreams and desires.
Otherwise Nothing Will Change!!!!!
Take my word for it. I do this for a living!
Yours in total health,
Dr. Frank
